Sero

Highly flexible, multi-purpose adhesive, applicable in thickness up to 20 mm, can be used as flow bed adhesive. Validus Sero is a specially-formulated thixotropic cement-based powder adhesive with aggregates and high-performance resin-based additives. It is designed for the installation of natural stone, ceramics and porcelain stoneware tile coverings suitable, fixed to substrates including those with limited amounts of dimensional instability, and with the capacity to support wall tiling without battening.

Product Preparation

Mix the quantity that you can comfortably use within the product’s pot life (30 minutes. As a guide, at 23°C and 50% RH). Never add water to buy back lost fluidity doing so will impair the final bond strength. This product must be in its final position before the mix has started to set. Mix Validus Sero with clean water, until you achieve adhesive of a smooth and lump-free homogeneous consistency.

For a thixotropic mix: As a guide for powder to water ratio, 20kg of Validus Sero requires approximately 6.40 litres of water.

For a flow bed mix: As a guide for powder to water ratio, 20kg of Validus Sero requires approximately 7.60-8.00 litres of water.

Allow the product to stand for about 2 minutes, then remix.  The adhesive is now ready for use and must be used within 30 minutes.

Before starting, all substrates must be clean, dry and strong enough to support the weight of the tiles, tile adhesive and grout. Remove all dust, dirt, oil, grease and other contaminants that may affect adhesion.

Absorbent substrates and Gypsum- or calcium-sulphate-based substrates should be primed with Validus Para prior to using Validus Sero.  See Validus Para datasheet for correct application according to specific substrates.

Validus Sero is best applied in a uniform layer, using a notched trowel to comb to a consistent depth, as is appropriate for the type of and size of tiles to be fixed. Validus Sero can be applied to a maximum bed thickness of 20mm.

Ensuring the adhesive is still fresh, bed tiles into the adhesive, ensuring full coverage of adhesive between tile and substrate.  Where risk is present, protect the surface from frost until the adhesive is fully set.

Clean surplus adhesive from the tiles and joints as soon as possible; set adhesive will become increasingly difficult to remove. Clean tools after use with water. Product for professional use only.

Grouting:
In ideal conditions, grouting can begin after 12 hours.  Foot traffic can be accepted after 24 hours. This time can vary depending on temperature and site conditions. Impervious surfaces may extend the set time.

In the first 48 hours after application, the adhesive does not withstand frost. Full service after 7 days, depending on the tile format, substrate and environment temperature.

The recommended grout for use with Validus Sero is Validus Sono.

Coverage:
Approximately 4-5m² @ 10mm bed.

Storage:
The product must be stored in unopened and sealed, in its original packaging in a cool, dry place.

Shelf Life:
Approximately 12 months from the date printed on the side of the packaging.

Technical Notes:
Validus Sero contains a reducing agent to control the level of Chromium VI. When stored correctly the activity of the reducing agent will be maintained and when mixed with water the product will produce no more than 2ppm Chromium VI. Use of the product beyond the declared shelf life may increase the risk of an allergic reaction.
