Product Preparation
Depending on the substrate, prime the surface using Validus Para or Tenaci (dependent on the substrate – refer to the Validus Para and Validus Tenaci datasheets for correct application) and allow to dry.
Mix Validus Planum with 4.4 - 4.8 litres of clean water, until you achieve adhesive of a smooth and lump-free homogeneous consistency. Occasionally clean around the wall of the mixing bucket to re-combine unmixed material onto the sides back into the body of the mix. It is recommended that a mixer with an approx. speed of 500-700 rpm is used.
Allow the product to stand for about 2 minutes, then remix. The levelling compound is now ready for use and must be used within 30 minutes.
Surface Preparation
Before starting, all substrates must be clean, dry and strong enough to support the weight of the tiles, levelling compound, tile adhesive and grout. Remove all dust, dirt, oil, grease, old adhesive, levelling compounds and paint residues and other contaminants that may affect adhesion.
Remove impairing or separating layers by mechanically brushing, abrading, scabbling or shot blasting.
Prior to the installation of Validus Planum on cement-based bonded or floating screeds the moisture content when measured by a carbide hygrometer (CM device) must not exceed:
Cement-based screed on insulation or separating layers in interior areas: 2%
Calcium sulphate screeds without underfloor heating: 0.5%
Calcium sulphate screeds with underfloor heating: 0.3%
Gypsum based plaster: 1%
Wooden substrates must be clean, dry and load-bearing. Replace damaged floorboards. Secure loose, springy or squeaking boards or sheets with screws. Chipboard must be laid with staggered joints, screwed and glued.
Pour Validus Planum on to the primed substrate and evenly spread with a spiked roller or float. Ensure application and working to final position is achieved within the pot life.
De-aerate the liquid layer with a spiked roller to encourage to flow (this will also help to achieve product’s optimum hardness). Do not force-dry.
Before installing finishes, the Validus Planum must be fully dry. We recommend that moisture measurements are carried out with a carbide hygrometer.
Ventilation on site is necessary. Avoid draughts during the application and curing process as well as direct sunlight. The floor and interior temperature must be at least +5°C during application and for the week after. Dehumidifiers may only be used after the first 3 days
There is a risk of cracking through rapid water loss in heated rooms or highly absorbent substrates
Clean surplus adhesive from the tiles and joints as soon as possible as set levelling compound will become increasingly difficult to remove. Clean tools after use with water. Product for professional use only.
Technical Information
Validus Planum contains a reducing agent to control the level of Chromium VI. When stored correctly the activity of the reducing agent will be maintained and when mixed with water the product will produce no more than 2ppm Chromium VI. Use of the product beyond the declared shelf life may increase the risk of an allergic reaction.
