Product Preparation
Before starting, all substrates must be clean, dry and strong enough to support the weight of the tiles, tile adhesive and grout. Remove all dust, dirt, oil, grease, old adhesive, levelling compounds and paint residues and other contaminants that may affect adhesion.
Remove any layers or surface covering that adversely affect the bond, by mechanical brushing, abrasion, scabbling or shot-blasting.
Calcium sulphate screeds must be abraded, then vacuumed followed by priming with Validus Para.
The moisture content, when measured by a carbide hygrometer (CM device), must not exceed:
Cement-based screed on insulation or separating layers in interior areas: 2%
Calcium sulphate screeds without underfloor heating: 0.5%
Calcium sulphate screeds with underfloor heating: 0.3%
Gypsum based plaster: 1%
Validus Para is ready to use. Do not dilute the product. Apply Validus Para with a brush, roller or sprayer.
If the substrate is very absorbent or an anhydrite based screed we recommend applying a second coat of Validus Para. When applying a second coat, only do so when the first is dry to touch.
To reduce the appearance of stains and superficial halos ghosting on natural stone, marble or absorbent granite etc we recommend that Validus Para is applied to the reverse of the materials before they are laid, according to the procedures described above.
Use on dry and absorbent substrates only. Do not apply with temperatures lower than 5°C and higher than 35°C.
Coverage:
Approximately 200 g/m² depending on the absorption of the substrate.
Storage:
The product must be stored in unopened and sealed, in its original packaging in a cool, dry place.
Shelf Life:
Approximately 12 months from the date printed on the side of the packaging.
